Plug in Pilot Plant for Wastewater Treatment

Published: March 15, 2025

Challenge

Our client, Econvert Water & Energy, specializes in wastewater testing using pilot plants to determine whether a site’s water is suitable for anaerobic treatment. They sought to develop a new pilot plant, based on a previous design, with minor technological updates. The project required full engineering and construction, both mechanical and electrical. Due to their focus on larger projects, they wanted us to manage the entire process, from engineering to procurement and final assembly, ensuring the plant would be ready for immediate use once their programmer loaded the operational software.

About Econvert Water & Energy

Founded in 2012, Econvert Water & Energy focuses on anaerobic wastewater treatment andbiogas conditioning, helping industries reduce their ecological footprint. Over the years, theyhave built a strong reputation in sectors like pulp & paper, food & beverage, and chemical & pharmaceutical.

In 2020, Econvert joined the SAUR Group, gaining access to a global network of servicecenters and expanding its capacity to deliver advanced water treatment solutions. Theirmission remains clear: optimizing water reuse and sustainability through biological treatment.

Process

Econvert chose Tom-Tech because they trusted that the plant would be built according to theirspecifications while allowing them to concentrate on other critical projects. The engineering process started with analyzing an updated P&ID, old plant drawings, past electrical plans, andthe physical form of the existing pilot plant, all provided by Econvert Water & Energy.

After thoroughly studying the documentation and evaluating the previous plant, we developedan execution draft, which was approved by the client. From there, we proceeded with thedetailed engineering, procurement of all necessary equipment, frame construction, equipmentinstallation, and full electrical integration. Once completed, the client’s programmer loadedthe software, and the plant was fully operational.

Result

The final product was a modern, visually refined pilot plant that met all functional and aesthetic expectations. With this new addition, Econvert Water & Energy expanded its fleet of pilot plants, enhancing its ability to assist clients in reducing their ecological footprint and improving efficiency in wastewater treatment. This project once again demonstrated Tom-Tech’s ability to provide end-to-end engineering solutions, delivering a complete and seamless system from conception to execution.
